    Rain, rain and more rain made a shambles of just about all efforts to race this past weekend. Once again rain has forced Lincoln Speedway officials to postpone the 13th Annual Manufacturers Appreciation Race for the super sprints. The originally scheduled September 21st show was rescheduled for Friday night, October 11th. And yes, you guessed it, rain forced Lincoln officials to postpone the special event until Friday night, October 18th. Once again gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with super sprint time trials set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. With over $60,000 in racing merchandise committed to this final 2002 race at Lincoln. Promoters - Don & Bob Leiby, along with Alan Kreitzer - have made the commitment to run this race at all costs in 2002.
With that said, a perpetual rain-date will be committed to until the race is in the books and all prizes given away.
    Hank and Denise Gentzler, and a host of other racing merchandise providers, have waited anxiously since the originally scheduled September 21st event was postponed due to rain. The final Miller Brothers Thundercar point race also hangs in balance as they too are scheduled to run this one last point race as well.
Track champion Fred Rahmer will be in action looking for another victory to add to his long list of successes and Lance Dewease will be in action along with a host of other outstanding performers in sprint car racing.
    This will be the final event of the season at Lincoln Speedway.
    AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY the 410 sprints, NASCAR Modifieds, URC sprints, ARDC Midgets and the Late Models will all be part of the House of Thunder Halloween Party and Thunder on the Hill show Saturday, October 19. Five divisions of dirt track racing will be presented in a features only format of racing. Each division will compete in a 25-lap feature. The gates will open at 3 p.m. for spectators. There will be time trials for the 410 sprints at 5:30 p.m.
Many special treats will be offered including sample bags of Middleswarth's Potato Chips, Candy, and lost of special gifts as well as a "trick" or two. And added event on the program is the Fred's Trailer Parts/Valley Forge Inc. URC Non-Winner's Race. This fifteen lap test is a special race for URC drivers who have never won a feature race.
More than $46,000 in prize money has been posted for the show.
The 410 sprint cars will be the big attraction with Fred Rahmer and Lance Dewease topping the entry list. In fact Rahmer and Dewease will run in both the 410 sprints and URC sprints. Other top names in 410 sprint racing expected to be on hand include Greg Hodnett, Don Kreitz Jr., Keith Kauffman, Sean Michael and others.
    More than 115 race cars are expected to be on hand for the final racing program of the season at Grandview Speedway.
    On November 16th Grandview Speedway will honor Jeff Strunk as the NASCAR Modified Champion and Lou Egrie will get the top prize as NASCAR ShorTrack Late Model champion. The banquet will take place at the Gilbertsville, PA Fire Hall with doors open at 6 p.m.
Ooops almost forgot! A Racer's Flea Market will be presented at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA on Saturday, October 26th. The event started at 7 a.m.
    THE FALL FEST RACING PROGRAM was rained out Saturday night at Williams Grove Speedway. A persistent drizzle worsened just as the first of four feature events was about to take the green flag. After the rain showed no signs of stopping, the Fall Fest has been rescheduled for Saturday night, October 26th.
    The program will again consist of 20-lap features for limited late models, super sportsman cars and limited 358 sprints. The Grove's sprint cars will compete in a 25-lap event. The Fall Fest will bring down the curtain on the 2002 racing season at Williams Grove Speedway. This Saturday, Williams Grove Speedway will host a stock car tripleheader featuring street stocks, thundercars and a 100-lap Enduro. The first race will get the green at 7 p.m. and keep in mind that all entries that pass inspection will be permitted to start the Enduro. Perhaps you have an old car you don't want anymore? Just kidding.
The sprint car point battle is over at Williams Grove Speedway. Lance Dewease is the track champion with 6705 points. And Fred Rahmer finished second gaining 6160 points. The top performers on the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass Championship sprint series will be honored on November 8th at the Holiday Inn, Mechancisburg, PA.
  PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY has already gotten things underway for next season with some track improvements being planned.
There will be some new rules in place with added emphasis on safety equipment for all racers.
    Keith Kauffman will be honored as the track champion on January 11th. The location of the banquet will be announced shortly.

The late models will be back in action with a full schedule of events during the 2003 season.
    THE 28TH ANNUAL TURBO-BLUE RACING GASOLINE HUB CITY NATIONAL 150 continues as an incomplete program. One late model driver will have to wait until Sunday, November 3 for the $10,000 as the Hub City event has taken on yet another postponed date. Gates will open at noon with warm-ups beginning at 1:30 p.m. and race time at 2 p.m. The November 3 afternoon will begin with the B-Main for the ITSI late models that will complete the 30-car starting field with eight positions remaining to be filled.
    There will also will be the 25-lap Hoosier Tires Mid-Atlantic late model sportsman feature and 20-lap Ernie's Salvage Yard Pure Stock feature. The 150-lap Hub-City event will complete the program and that will close out the season at Hagerstown, MD Speedway.
    NO DRIVER is looking forward to the Octoberfest 350 at Hagerstown, MD Speedway on October 26th and 27th, any more than Billy Pauch. The annual fall extravaganza brings together the top drivers in super sprints, the big block modifieds, the late models and the small block modifieds. The Frenchtown, NJ driver has won eight feature events in three of the four divisions. Pauch will be in the Mrs T's Pierogies sponsored #114 owned by Buddy Biever. Pauch has won more than $80,000 in Octoberfest events since he started running in the events.
    In addition to the 100-lap big block modified feature, the Octoberfest will also have a 100-lap $10,000-to-win features events for the late models and small block modifieds plus a 50-lap $10,000-to-win main event for the super sprints. It is one of the biggest weekends of the season at Hagerstown, MD Speedway.
    STEADY MORNING RAIN and the promise of more until midnight forced Wall Township Speedway officials to cancel the ix division racing card set for this past Saturday. All attention now turns to the special Sunday afternoon, October 20, Race of Champions Modified Tour event at the famed third-mile high-banked oval. Many of the top drivers in Modified racing are expected to be on hand to compete in the 150-lap event, $5,000 to win.
    The Street Stocks will also be in action with double points feature race. Vintage race cars from the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will also be on hand. Racing starts at 1 p.m. while the gates open at 11 a.m. Five of the six speedway driving championships at the Wall Township, NJ oval will then be decided on Saturday evening, October 26th. This will be the final regular season event and will feature the WTS Modifieds, Street Stocks, Truck Series, Legend Cars and Three Quarter Midgets.  Racing will start at 5 p.m. The season will officially close when the 27th annual Turkey Derby is presented. The action takes place on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
    BIG DIAMOND RACEWAY will honor their 2002 track champions on Saturday, November 9th. Keith Hoffman is the NASCAR Modified champion at the 3/8ths mile clay oval. Craig Whitmoyer was tops in the NASCAR ShorTrack Sportsman division and Rodney Ulsh won the NASCAR Roadrunners title.
