This weekend the NASCAR Winston Cup racers are in
the area again. The Winston Cup talents will be running in a 500-mile
race on Sunday at Pocono Raceway. And there will be a lot of
activities throughout the weekend including time trials and practice
for both the Winston Cup racers and the ARCA RE/MAX Series racers.
There will be a 100-mile event for ARCA on Saturday.
There are still some good seats available for the weekend of racing. ANOTHER WEEKEND OF WEATHER PROBLEMS creating havoc for some local tracks. At Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA, the Friday night show was ready to go with heavy rain washed out the track and caused promoter Fritz Roehrig to cancel the show. True Value Hardware will sponsor the Friday, June 7th show with an 8 p.m. starting time. Racing action will include the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Modifieds along with sportsman and roadrunners. And coming up on Friday, June 14th is Amsoil Night, another tripleheader show. Father's Day will see a special show being presented at the 3/8th mile clay oval. The KARS 358 sprints will be there along with sportsman and roadrunners. Racing will start at 6:30 p.m. on June 16th. Duane Howard continues to be the Modified point leader by just ten points over defending champion Keith Hoffman and Meme DeSantis is just 10 points behind Hoffman. Some very close competition at the Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA. EAST WINDSOR, NJ SPEEDWAY had Jeff Taylor winning the Windsor Outlaw sprint race. That was his second win of the season. And in the same Friday night show Al Cheney won the Street Stock main event. The Modified and Sportsman stock car feature events were rained out and will be rescheduled for a later date. Friday night racing continues weekly at the East Windsor Speedway with the green flag falling at 7:30 p.m. This week's show includes the very popular "Twin Twenty" Modified features along with Sportsman and Street Stocks. There will be no sprint cars on Friday. WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY in Mechanicsburg, PA had their super sportsman and sprint doubleheader rained out on Friday night. Interesting to note that the Super Sportsman, usually seen at Silver Spring Speedway on Saturday nights, are now 0 for 6 this season when they travel to other tracks. The Super Sportsman will try again at Williams Grove Speedway on July 12. Lance Dewease is the current point leader in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings at Williams Grove. Dewease has 2720 points with second place Todd Shaffer having 2465. The sprints will be back in action this Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m. and the Late Model stock cars will be part of that show. SOMEONE WASN'T PAYING ATTENTION TO THE SCHEDULE. Susquehanna Speedway, they had their opening day rained out a couple weeks back, will try again this Friday, June 7, 7:45 p.m. The number division of competition for the weekly Friday night shows is planned to be the Late Model stock cars. However with Williams Grove Speedway and Susquehanna Speedway both running Late Models, just a short distance from each other, on the same night, one or both tracks may suffer when it comes to car count. The 358-Modifieds will be the second division while the 4-Cylinder stocks and Enduro stocks are also in action. Susquehanna Speedway, which has had their problems staying in operation all season the last few years, will be open all season according to promoter Vince Vicari. THERE WILL BE SPRINT CAR RACING at Clinton County Speedway in Lock Haven, PA this Friday. It will be the first appearance of sprint car racing in several years at the popular oval. This will be the first of ten sprint car programs planned for Clinton County Speedway. The Friday night show will start at 7:30 p.m. with Super Stocks, Four Cylinders and Daredevils also part of the four division show. The Late Models have been dropped from the show for the next two weeks because the car count has been disappointing. WHAT MAY HAVE BEEN THE FASTEST 30-LAP MODIFIED FEATURE IN HISTORY WAS RUN AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY this past Saturday. Doug Manmiller drove the GMI Mechanical Inc. entry to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Modified feature in less than 9 minutes. There were no caution laps in the feature race. Jeff Strunk gave Manmiller quite a run for the win but had to settle for second. Third went to Kevin Hartnett and Kerry Kratz, the modified point leader at the track, came from 27th to finish 4th. Randy Stoudt won his fourth of the season in the Late Model feature race. United Racing Club sprint cars and NASCAR Modifieds will be in action at the Bechtelsville, PA racing oval, a one third mile clay banked track, this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The night being sponsored by Jesse Baro Hauling. URC sprints have been attracting more than 40 sprinters to each of their shows this season. |

"I though the car, equipment and motor was good enough to win, the weak line was me." "We struggled pretty bad this year. Lance Dewease did get second followed by Steve Siegel, Donnie Kreitz Jr. and Niki Young. Greg Leiby won the 358 sprint car feature making him the fifth different win of the five events run at Lincoln. Craig Wagaman won his first year in a thrilling thundercar feature. "They work hard every week," said Neuman of his crew. "We were fortunate to start in front of some of the class of the field here. Our car was working real good. The crew has been learning how to make this car work." "You're lucky to win two all season here," said Neuman who calls Myerstown, PA home. Scott McCann won the late model feature race.
