For those who have always wanted the thrill of
riding in a Winston Cup car or driving a Winston Cup car, please pay
attention.
Nazareth, PA Speedway will host the Racing Reality driving school, a program that gives fans the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a 500-horsepower, NASCAR Winston Cup style stock car or truck. The racing school will be at Nazareth Speedway for the second time this year on August 17-18. This will be the final appearance of the school in Pennsylvania this year. The Racing Reality driving school will offer four types of experiences. The "Ride Along" program will allow YOU to be a passenger for four laps as you travel near actual race speeds. Also being offered is the "Start Your Engine" package, where you get behind the wheel for 10 laps at speeds approaching 120 miles per hour. The "Green Flag" program will put YOU in the driver's seat for 24 laps, with a review of your driving technique from a Racing Reality instructor coming after the first 12 laps. Finally, the "Race Day" experience will give you 16 laps of practice, a personal review, 17 more laps of practice, topped off with an actual 17-lap, side-by-side race between you and your instructor! At the end of the program you will be able to say you drove "The World's Fastest Mile," which has Earnhardt,Jr., Jeff Gordon, Al Unser, Jr., A.J. Foyt, Rusty Wallace and Rick Mears. Times and dates are subject to change. The "Ride Along" program starts at $74 per person. In order to participate, you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license (ride along participants must be at least 10 years old). All driving packages are scheduled by appointment and no cancellation may be made within 30 days of your race date. The United Racing Club sprint cars had been scheduled for Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, PA on Friday night. With the rainout the URC sprinters are scheduled to return on August 23rd with the NASCAR Modifieds and Roadrunners. This Friday, July 26, the Doorways Unlimited KARS 358 sprint cars are in action at Big Diamond Raceway. The NASCAR Modified sand Roadrunners will be part of the tripleheader show on the 3/8th mile clay oval. Racing starts at 8 p.m. Coming up on Tuesday, July 30th the track is open for an open practice session. This is a great opportunity for racers to test and tune their race cars as they ready for the hectic schedule of events planned for the final one third of the season. And on Sunday, August 4, 6:30 p.m. the MACS Late Models will be featured in a Black Gold 50 main event. This will be a first time appearance for the Late Models at Big Diamond. The roadrunners will also be part of the show. EAST WINDSOR, NJ SPEEDWAY was a victim of rain. The "Twin 20's" racing program was cancelled. This Friday night, July 26, 7:30 p.m. a popular "Run What Ya Brung" will be presented. Simply put invaders from any speedway will be welcome to bring their cars to the speedway for competition in Modified, Sportsman and Street Stock competition. Mufflers are must. The Modifieds run in a 25-lap feature while the sportsman go in a 20 lapper and the street stocks run 15 laps in their main event. "COWBOY" Jim Kennedy will be back at Clinton County Speedway in Lock Haven, PA on Friday, July 26th to try for a second win in the sprint car main event. The 67-year-old veteran won his first main in a number of years a couple weeks back. The sprints will be in action with the super stocks, four cylinders and daredevil pure stocks. The Late Models, rained out last Friday, will return to Clinton County Speedway on August 2nd. Children are encouraged to participate in the first "Power-Wheels" race held at the Speedway during intermission on July 26th. Bicycle helmets are required for the battery powered "Power-Wheels." THE RAIN caused Susquehanna Speedway in Newberrytown, PA to cancel their big "Four 20's" show and they have made some schedule changes as a result. This Friday, July 26, 7:45 p.m. the Henry R. Sharman Builder/Developer Night will be presented with the Super Late Models being the main attraction. The 358 Modifieds will be included in the action as will the 4-Cylinder Stocks, Legends and Enduro racers. There will be no racing at Susquehanna Speedway on August 2nd. No reason given for the lack of racing on that date. There will be a test and tune session on Sunday, August 4th at the track. WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY lost their Friday night show to rain but fans will be packing the legendary facility this weekend as the Pennzoil World of Outlaw sprint cars are in town for three nights of high speed sprint car competition. Each night the racing starts at 8 p.m. |
Fans will get to see the Pennsylvania Posse (Fred Rahmer, Lance
Dewease, Donnie Kreitz and others) do battle with the Outlaws (Danny
Lasoski, Steve Kinser, Mark Kinser and 6 or 7 others).
Racing for the sprint cars, started on Thursday night, and continues on Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27th. More than $155,000 is being paid out for the three nights of sprint car racing. PORT ROYAL, PA SPEEDWAY had Todd Hestor winning the 25-lap Aumiller's Insurance Sprint Car feature on Saturday night. The victory was worth $2,500 to the Middleswarth Potato Chips team driver. Hestor was followed by Keith Kauffman making a one-two finish for the team. The 20-lap Late Model feature was won by Mike Atherton and Dave Leahy lead all the laps on the way to victory in the Strong's Auto Parts Pro Stock feature. There is no racing at Port Royal Speedway this weekend. The speedway calls it a mid-season vacation but it is being done to allow their sprint car stars to run in the Outlaw events at Williams Grove Speedway. The Speedway is back in action on August 3, 7 p.m., with the sprint cars, late models, pro stocks and Enduro cars. GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY in Bechtelsville, PA had another one of their exciting finishes in the NASCAR Modified 30-lap feature sponsored by Harry's U-Pull-It Auto Parts and Gatorade. Doug Manmiller won his fourth of the season in the Modifieds in a down to the checkered flag battle with Craig VonDohren and Jeff Strunk. And it was Randy Stoudt won the Late Model feature for the fifth time this season. Coming up this Saturday, July 27th, the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models will be featured in at least 12 events of racing starting at 7:30 p.m. with 3M sponsoring the night. On Saturday, August 3, the Stauffer Construction Co. will sponsor the Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lapper for NASCAR Modifieds with $10,000 going to the winner. And there is Late Model stock car racing. Added to the night's fun is the Blues Brothers Act. That show starts at 7:30 p.m. LINCOLN SPEEDWAY had "Fast Freddie" Rahmer winning the prestigious Daryl Gohn/Glenn Gohn Sr. Memorial sprint car race and picking up more than $3,500 for his efforts. Steve Siegel finished a strong second followed by Cris Eash. Cory Haas won his fourth career victory in the 358 sprint car feature while Neil Smith won the Thundercar feature, inheriting the lead on the final lap when leader Mike Zeigler Jr. hit the wall in the first turn. There will be no 410 sprint car racing at Lincoln Speedway this Saturday, July 27th. Instead fans will see a SUNDAY show of Silver Spring Super Sportsman, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks and a 600cc micro-sprint feature. Racing will start at 7 p.m. for the special Sunday show. RAY MYERS won his first micro sprint feature of the season when he won the 250cc Two-Stroke Feature at Lanco's Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway on Saturday night. Richard Fox won the 250cc Four-Stroke feature. And the 600cc feature went to Jason Rhoads with Kenny Miller getting the 125cc Micro Sprint feature win. The Clyde Martin Memorial presented by Gold Rush Trailer Sales will feature the 35-lap main events for the Sportsman, 125cc, 250cc, four-strokes and two stroke micro sprints. Racing starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. AT SELINSGROVE, PA SPEEDWAY Maryland's Darren Eash made a late-race pass on Joe Whitcomb to win his first sprint car feature of the season. Scott Haus got the win the Late Model feature, his fourth of the season, and it was Peanut Heintzelman winning his fourth of the season in pro stocks. Cory Long was the roadrunner winner. Two of the tracks legends were on hand to sign autographs. Ray Tiller and Lynn Paxton were kept busy by many fans who wanted to meet them, take photos and collect autographs. This Saturday, July 27, Selinsgrove Speedway will host a special program that includes twin-20-lap features for the sprint cars (358 sprinters). And there will be feature events for the late models, pro stocks and roadrunners. There is a 7 p.m. starting time. SILVER SPRING SPEEDWAY had J.R.Fry getting the biggest win of his career when he won the 50th Anniversary Super Sportsman feature race on Saturday night. It was his first win of the season and seventh of his career. Carl Billet won the Late Model feature and Gregg Foster was tops in the Street Stock main event. The information received from Silver Spring Speedway did not indicate what would be running this Saturday night, if anything. The usual Saturday night show includes Super Sportsman. To be sure give the track a call. THE NASCAR WINSTON CUP cars and stars are at Pocono Raceway this weekend along with the ARCA RE/MAX Series racers.
