Big Bucks wait for the winner of the Stauffer
Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial Modified stock car race
at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, August 2nd. The green flag
falls at 7:30 p.m. on a night that will see the NASCAR Dodge
Weekly Series Modifieds racing for $10,000 to win. In addition
there will be a full show of Late Model stock car racing.
Jeff Strunk, the current point leader in the chase for the Modified crown at Grandview Speedway, has to be rated as a favorite to run off with the win. The two time track champion has one win and 10 top ten finishes as he also leads the NASCAR New England Regional point standings which would be worth $45,000 if he can hold on to the top spot. A win in the Forrest Rogers Memorial would go a long way in pushing the Bethel, PA racer toward the championships. However Strunk will have plenty of competition in the form of five time track champion Craig VonDohren, former champions Terry Meitzler, Tom Mayberry and Ray Swinehart; young talents Ryan Watt, Doug Manmiller, Kenny Gilmore and a host of others. With $10,000 up for grabs the competition will be keen to say the least. Youngsters coming out for the annual Forrest Rogers Memorial will have a chance to win four bicycles being put up by race sponsor Stauffer Construction. The Franconia, PA Café and Market has posted a $50.00 cash reward for a lucky fan in the stands. And as usual there will be two fans that will win rides in the two-seat modified stock car. Adult fans have a chance to win, each week, a $50 gift certificate to the Works Restaurant and Sports Bar in Wyomissing, PA and $50 cash courtesy of GMI First Mechanical of Reading, PA. The Saturday night events set for August 9, 16, 23, and 30th will all feature the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modifieds and Late Models in at least 13 events of stock car racing. Sponsors included during the month of August at Grandview Speedway include Craftsman Tools, Arctic Cat, Rossi Welding, Waste Management and Kreiser Race Fuels. Other specials on the schedule during the month of August include the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Modified Thunder on Thursday, August 14th. Featured will be the Traffic Jam 100 for Big Block DIRT Modifieds. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m. And on Sunday, August 31, the Thunder on the Hill Series continues with the United Racing Club 360 Sprint cars and American Racing Drivers Club Ray's Yamaha/Polaris Victory Midgets.
