The entries are in the mail for the 30th Annual Turbo Blue Racing Gasolines Hub-City National 150. The traditional fall championship event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights, September 24th and 25th. For the past 29 years, the Hub-City National has been the longest race in the country for the late models. This year, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this prestigious event Promoter Frank Plessinger has changed the format. Instead of 150 laps, the 2004 version of the Hub-City will now have three 50-lap features.
A large field of late models is expected as the Hub-City is known as the "Big Race for the Little Guy." The 30th Annual Hub-City National 150 will have two 50-lap events paying $2,500 to the winner with the top 12 finishers of each feature moving onto the final 50-lap segment paying $7,500 to the winner. The largest purse in the 30-year history of the National 150 is on the line with one driver able to earn $10,000 for 100-laps.
Gates open each night at 5 P.M. with action getting underway at 7:30 P.M. The two day event is one of the best bargains in professional sports with grandstand general admission only $10 on Friday night and $18 on Saturday. Kids under 12 are FREE. Parking and overnight camper parking is FREE.
Joining the late models on Friday night will be the Ernie’s Salvage Yard pure stocks and on Saturday night the Hoosier Tires-Mid-Atlantic late model sportsman will be part of the double header program.
On Friday night there will be time trials and qualifying events for the late models. The Ernie’s Salvage Yard pure stocks will have a complete program of qualifying and feature events. On Saturday, the consolation race for the late models will begin the program with the late model sportsman in action on Saturday with a complete program of qualifying and feature events.
Rounding out the two day program will be the Turbo-Blue Hub-City National 150. Gary Stuhler is the defending champion.

RAIN forced the cancellation of the 410 sprint car and limited sprint races scheduled for this past Friday at Williams Grove Speedway. That was the last limited sprint point event of the season scheduled at the Grove and Chad Layton will win the limited sprint title. The limited sprints will return when they are part of the Fall Fest on October 16th. That will be a show featuring four sprint classifications plus a 75-lap Enduro.
THE SUPER SPORTSMAN RACE CARS  will make their final appearance of the season at Williams Grove Speedway on September 24 and the sprint car teams will have one final opportunity to tune their cars for the Cleveland Brothers National Open weekend coming up October 1-2.
The self-starting sportsman cars have not raced at Williams Grove since April, and the September 24 date will mark just their third stop of the season at the Mechanicsburg half-mile. Rich Eichelberger and Dale Hammaker split the two sportsman features run last spring. Point averages from the sportsman tour will set the lineups for heat races and the 20-lap feature.
In the Grove's sprint car division where Fred Rahmer is well on his way to the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass championship, time trials will be used to set the lineups for the qualifying races and the 25-lap main event. The Grove regulars are being given this opportunity to try their qualifying setups for the National Open, which will once again be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws.
Similar time trial races were scheduled prior to the May and July Outlaw invasions and the results indicate the practice may have been beneficial to the Pennsylvania Posse.
Rahmer won the preliminary night feature on May 27, then Don Kreitz, Jr. passed Steve Kinser on the last lap to score a $12,000 victory the next night.
Lance Dewease made it three straight for the locals when he stopped the Outlaws on July 23 before Danny Lasoski came from the eleventh starting position to win one for the visitors 24 hours later.
When it comes to qualifying no driver has been better at Williams Grove this year than Todd Hestor. The weekend racer from Middleburg has set fast time on three occasions this season. His lap of 16.42 is the fastest recorded at Williams Grove Speedway in 2004.
Some reserved seats remain for the Cleveland Brothers National Open and phone orders are accepted at 717.697.5000.

LINCOLN SPEEDWAY cancelled their Friday night show that was to feature the World of Outlaws and the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series Late Models. The race had been rescheduled from an early season rainout. No new date has been announced. It was interesting to note that the race was cancelled on Thursday….the race was scheduled for Friday night.
CLINTON COUNTY SPEEDWAY had their Friday night show rained out. Due to the cancellation, only one more points event remains for the Sprint Car, Pro Stocks and 4-Cylinder Enduro divisions which will take place on Friday, September 24th.  GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY called their show on Saturday very early in the day after heavy rain throughout the night and continuing early in the day turned the track into a sea of mud. Predictions called for more rain and high winds so event organizer Bruce Rogers felt it best to give the fans and racers the opportunity to do other things on Saturday since he had no idea when they would be able to get on the track…..if the rain stopped.
Racing will return to the Bechtelsville, PA one-third-mile clay oval on Saturday, September 25th at 7 p.m. with an open competition show of Modifieds and Late Models. This will be the season finale for the regular Saturday night racing events. And on October 16th at 6 p.m. Halloween Thunder will be presented featuring the NASCAR Modifieds, DIRT Southeast Series Modifieds, NASCAR Late Models, URC Sprints and Legends cars. This will be 5 25-lap features. There will be no qualifying events and no time trials.
SILVER SPRING SPEEDWAY had to postpone their 30th Annual Sportsman 100 because of rain. The big event will be run on Saturday, September 25th. The race pays $5,000 to win and is expected to attract a stellar field of Super Sportsman.
The final point race of the season featuring the super sportsman, late models and street stocks has been moved to October 2nd.
FLOODING CONDITIONS forced Port Royal Speedway to reschedule their Saturday Butch Renninger’s Small Car Nationals to October 2nd. That show ill include pro stocks, 4 cylinder cars, enduro racers and powder puff racing. And they still have tickets remaining for their World of Outlaw sprint show on September 29th. Telephone 717.527.4414.
IF YOUR SCHEDULE did not allow you to head to Maple Grove Raceway for the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals this past weekend you are in luck. The event was rained out after two days of heavy rain. It has all been rescheduled for October 8-10.
This is an opportunity to see the biggest names in drag racing in competition.
Dover International Speedway offers a NASCAR weekend of racing starting with the NASCAR Busch North Series racers on Friday (September 24), Busch Series on Saturday and Nextel Cup on Sunday. This is the second race on the Championship Chase that will reward the top Cup racer with $5 million at the end of the season. We are told that there are still good seats available going into the race weekend.
THE ANNUAL ALEXANDER FAMILY DEALERSHIPS NATIONAL OPEN for 410 sprint cars, rained out twice this past weekend, at Selinsgrove Speedway is set for Sunday, September 26th at 6 p.m. The track presents the Fourth Annual Paul Stine Chevrolet National Open for 358 Sprint Cars on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
